Wells sets the tone with his workrate

Brett Deacon says the workrate of Harry Wells in the Premiership Rugby Cup opener at Saracens last Saturday set an example to the whole Leicester Tigers squad.

Second-rower Wells has played a part in all nine games in league and cups so far this season and marked with 50th first-team appearance with a try in the win over the Scarlets a fortnight ago before adding another score in the defeat at Saracens.

“We know what Saracens live for with their defence, their effort, their desire and kick-chase, and we needed to match that,” said Deacon who has taken charge of team affairs in the Premiership Cup period.

“I cannot fault the lads in terms of effort and that was led by Harry Wells. I thought his workrate was outstanding.

“It was a compliment to him that he was included in the team because we wanted to use him as a leader that our young back row could aspire to. He’s been in very good form in the Premiership and Europe for us and he led at Sarries like that too.”

Tigers are back  Cup action this Saturday when Worcester Warriors are the visitors to Welford Road. Kick-off is at 3.00pm and match tickets are available now. Book in person, phone 0116 319 8888 (option 2) or online.
