We’re all ready to go again, says White

Scrum-half Ben White insists the Leicester Tigers squad must ‘keep turning the corner’, starting this weekend against Wasps.

Following a two-week break in the fixture list, the men in green, white and red take on their Coventry-based rivals at Welford Road on Saturday (February 15, 3.00pm).

White told LeicesterTigers.com how the playing squad have drawn strength from two weekends out of the spotlight.

“I managed to get away with a couple of the lads, which was nice and helped clear the head,” he explained.

“Having a physical and mental rest is important, especially with such a jam-packed season.

“I’m feeling refreshed, feeling good, and now excited to get back playing. Two weeks is nice, but it’s also a long time to be without a game, so I’m excited to get back out there.”

“We’re feeling re-energised and ready to take on the challenge.”

The campaign will resume in front of the largest crowd of the season so far, which the 21-year-old White agreed will add something extra to Tigers’ first home game in the Gallagher Premiership for a month-and-a-half.

“I can’t wait, to be honest,” White continued. “Everyone knows what we need and what we want, and that’s a big win at home.

“We’ve been working hard this week and last week to make sure that that happens. We’re feeling re-energised and ready to take on the challenge.”

And, with Tigers mainstay Ben Youngs away with the national squad for the Guinness Six Nations, the young scrum-half is well aware of the responsibility on his shoulders.

He added: “When Lenny’s away, I want to do the shirt justice and I want to do everything I can to make sure I stay in the team, to keep improving and moving forward.

“It's always a huge honour to play in this shirt, and hopefully I’ll get my chance at the weekend.

“I just want to keep improving my game and see where it takes us – and I want to make sure that Leicester Tigers are winning.”

A limited number of match tickets are still available for this weekend, priced from £23 adults and £10 for Under-18s.
