We're an improving side says skipper Slater

Team captain Ed Slater praised a "strong performance" from Leicester Tigers in derby day victory at Northampton on Saturday.

Tigers made it six wins in a row in Aviva Premiership action, following up last week’s bonus-point victory over Exeter Chiefs with a 22-16 triumph at Franklin’s Gardens.

Aviva man of the match Slater said: “Our form has improved over the last few weeks and today proved we are a team that can be a force to be reckoned with.

“In the first half we were dominant in possession, in the second half it was a bit more scrappy and it was difficult for the game to flow.

“It was difficult with 13 men at the end, we were fighting for our lives, but fair play to the lads for holding out. Saints put us under a lot of pressure at that stage.

“Overall the performance was strong and we carried on from last week against Exeter.”

Slater and his colleagues now turn their attention to the Heineken Cup, with a quarter-final away to Clermont Auvergne on Saturday before returning to the last four games of the league season, starting at home to London Wasps on Saturday, April 12.

Tickets for home games against Wasps and Saracens (Saturday, May 10) are available now from the Tigers ticket office, open 8.30am-5pm weekdays, until 8pm Wednesdays and 9am-5pm Saturdays. Phone 0844 856 1880 or visit the office at Welford Road.
