Peter Wheeler is to be inducted into the Premiership Rugby Hall of Fame in honour of his contribution to the professional club game. After a glittering playing career with Leicester Tigers, England and the British & Irish Lions, Wheeler became chief executive at Welford Road at the dawn of professionalism and has continued to play a prominent role in the development of the game through his work with Tigers, Premiership Rugby, the Rugby Football Union and the Professional Game Board.   Wheeler will be added to the Premiership Rugby Hall of Fame alongside World Cup winners Jonny Wilkinson, Lawrence Dallaglio, Josh Lewsey, Phil Vickery and Simon Shaw, plus former Gloucester centre James Simpson-Daniel at a glittering dinner at London's HAC on September 2. They will be joined by other illustrious names from the English club game at a dinner that will raise funds for Sport Relief and Restart, the Rugby Players Association charity. "The Premiership Rugby Hall of Fame is in its third year and we are looking forward to welcoming these seven legends of the game into this prestigious club, at this wonderful event,” said Premiership Rugby's CSR and community director Wayne Morris. "The Hall of Fame has raised thousands of pounds for Comic Relief already and our partnership with the RPA means that Restart Rugby will be a beneficiary this year as well.” Last year saw Leicester Tigers heroes Martin Johnson, Lewis Moody and George Chuter inducted to the Hall of Fame alongside referee Ed Morrison and the late Gloucester chairman Tom Walkinshaw. RPA group chief executive Damian Hopley said: "Restart Rugby is extremely honoured to have been chosen as one of the Premiership Rugby Hall of Fame's benefiting charities and we are looking forward to celebrating the careers of the inductees at a fantastic event.”
