Leicester Tigers flanker Will Owen returns to his East Anglian roots when he joins the Tigers Rugby Camp at Swaffham RFC next week.

Owen played his early rugby at Diss before joining the Tigers development programme as a 13-year-old and then earned a place in the club’s academy programme where international stars including Dan Cole, Ben Youngs, Tom Youngs, Tom Croft and Manu Tuilagi also began their careers.

Owen enjoyed a successful run with England Under-20s as well as playing in the Premiership Sevens and Premiership ‘A’ League with Leicester and gaining senior experience on loan at Doncaster Knights in the Championship.

He will visit the Tigers Rugby Camp at Swaffham next week to pass on tips and to take part in a question-and-answer session with young players hoping to follow in his footsteps into the professional game.

The Swaffham week forms part of a full programme of Tigers Rugby Camps this summer with events at clubs throughout the region, including Leicestershire, Warwickshire, Lincolnshire and North Walsham RFC in Norfolk.

Tigers Rugby Camps allow players of all abilities to improve individual and team skills ahead of the new season. There are tag rugby sessions for under-7s and under-8s on half-days (9.30am-12.30pm) and full contact rugby for age-groups from under-9s on full days (9.30am-3.30pm). A hot lunch is provided for all full-day sessions and each participant receives a Tigers T-shirt, ball and drinks bottle, membership to the Junior Tigers Club and a free junior ticket to an allocated home game at Welford Road.
