Williams set for first Wales cap

Figure image
Owen Williams is in line to make his Wales debut after being named on the bench for their Test match against Tonga on Friday (6.30am BST).

Williams, who leaves Leicester Tigers this summer after 97 appearances for the club, is one of nine uncapped players in the Wales squad for the game at Eden Park.

The 25-year-old, who will join Gloucester Rugby ahead of next season, spoke to LTTV about his desire to play for his country on the final day of the season before heading off to link up with the Wales squad.

He said: “It’s going to be a tough tour playing against some physical teams in Tonga and Samoa. I am looking forward to it and, fingers crossed, I get my first cap.”
