Forty teams of young rugby players from across the country joined Leicester Tigers for a tag rugby festival on Saturday before cheering the Tigers on to victory at Welford Road.Tigers beat London Welsh 38-17 in Round 20 of the Aviva Premiership season with the tag teams joining a crowd of more than 23,000 for the penultimate home game of the season.
Jamie Coyle, an official of Newmarket Under-8s, said: “The boys had a great time and enjoyed the challenge of playing teams from other parts of the country.
“We sat them all together in the stands for the main match. They loved the game and being part of a large crowd.
“The boys are really bonding as a team and events such as the Tigers Tag Fest can only help to strengthen those bonds.
“Everyone asked me to pass on our thanks to you and the organisers at Tigers.”
Group days at Welford Road are a perfect way to share matchday with friends and colleagues for schools, clubs and other organisations. We are already preparing opportunities for next season and handling queries for 2015/16 from interested parties.
