Your stories, STILL TIGERS | Jill and Sian

We’ve already heard from supporters in The Robin Hood Stand and Breedon Terrace, but in this latest edition of our ‘Your stories, STILL TIGERS’ series we catch up with Jill and Sian in the Breedon Stand.

Long-time season ticket holder Jill Wells used to attend games at Welford Road with her father and, after he’d been to his last game at the age of 93, the place was passed on to a new generation through her daughter Sian Lennon.

The family actually have six season tickets between them, with Sian’s husband and children also big fans.

Jill says they’ve made lots of friends in the seats around them, calling them a ‘big gang’.

So, why the Breedon Stand?

“I like the heritage and atmosphere,” says Jill. “The fact that it’s wooden, you get a different sound. You also get a sense of camaraderie in this stand.

“The view is fantastic – you get used to the pillars, you just have to look round them!

“It’s just where we’ve always sat, and we like it.”

Jill says the 2001 European Cup Final win remains ‘indelible’ as her greatest memory of following the team and names Martin Johnson as her all-time favourite player.

Sian chooses Tom Varndell, while they both admit they like watching Jonny May and Ellis Genge as well as enjoying watching younger guys coming through the ranks.

Jill and Sian’s story was first published in this year’s Tigers Times, an exclusive publication for Leicester Tigers season ticket holders.
