Montoya and Moroni to tour with Argentina

This article was edited on June 7, 2022

Julián Montoya has been included in the Argentina squad for the Los Pumas summer Test matches against Scotland.

The Leicester Tigers hooker has been retained as captain under new head coach Michael Cheika.

Montoya, who won the club's Players' Player and Supporters' Player of the Year awards for his performances so far in Season 21/22, is the lone Leicester squad member named in the Argentine squad.

Montoya is joined in the squad by fellow Tiger Matías Moroni, who was originally included in the Argentina XV squad to face Georgia and Portugal.

Moroni was recalled to the national squad after Santiago Chocobares was ruled out through injury.

Former Tigers Pablo Matera and Tomás Lavanini have also been included.

Argentina play their first home Test matches in two seasons when they face Scotland in July ahead of the 2022 Rugby Championship against Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.
