Lutterworth RFC hosted the second festival of the Prima Tiger Cup season for under-10s teams on Sunday.
Supported by Prima Solutions of Loughborough, the Prima Tiger Cup is a free-to-enter contact-based fun event open to all clubs at Under-10 level (RFU defined).
The event takes part over four festivals covering the Tigers academy region and beyond where Tigers look to identify clubs who demonstrate the true ethos of the game under event criteria in keeping with the RFU Age Grade Rules and guidelines.
Teams from Ashby, Ashfield, Deepings, Hinckley, Kenilworth, Leicester Lions, Market Bosworth, Market Harborough, Oakham, Old Laurentians, Peterborough Lions, Shipston, St Neots, Stamford, Stoneygate, Woodbridge and hosts Lutterworth took part in the second festival on Sunday, with Tigers flanker Dominic Ryan offering encouragement from the sidelines.
Lutterworth, Kenilworth, Old Laurentians, Shipston, Stamford and Woodrush have now been invited to participate in a series of games at the Tigers’ Welford Road home, providing a fantastic experience to young and aspiring players.
Simon Bason, a coach at Shipston, said: “Many thanks to everyone at Tigers for putting on a great day at Lutterworth. The organisation was excellent.
“The players from Shipston had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We look forward to taking part again in the future.”
Attracting more than 70 entries each season, the Prima Tiger Cup is the largest and most prestigious single age group playing opportunity in the rugby calendar.
The next festival is at Tamworth RFC on October 22, with the final event hosted by Mellish RFC a week later.
