Corry takes up Legends captaincy

Figure image
Former Leicester Tigers captain Martin Corry will lead England in the annual Rugby Legends match against Ireland at The Stoop on Friday, March 16.

Corry is joined in the England squad by former Tigers colleagues Darren Garforth, Paul Gustard, Austin Healey, Leon Lloyd and Tim Stimpson, all Heineken Cup winners in their time at Welford Road.

The Irish squad includes fly-half Paul Burke and former Tigers back-rower Eric Miller.

This St Patrick’s weekend fixture is played on the evening before the two countries meet in the RBS 6 Nations at Twickenham.

The money raised from the match will be donated to the IRFU Charitable Trust in Ireland and to the RFU Injured Players Foundation and RPA Benevolent Fund in England. The three charities raise money to help deal with life threatening injuries for professional and amateur players within the sport.

A crowd of 11,000 attended the game in England two years ago and the Legends will aim to sell out a capacity 14,000 this time.

The Stuart Mangan Cup will be up for grabs, won by the English Legends at Donnybrook in 2011.

Tickets will start at £10, concessions £5, and are now on sale from www.quins.co.uk . You will also be able to pay at the gate.
