Debut cap for Williams in Wales win

Figure image
Leicester Tigers fly-half Owen Williams made his international debut as Wales beat Tonga 24-6 in their first Test of their summer tour.

Williams, who moves from Tigers to Gloucester Rugby at the end of this season, came off the bench to replace Scott Williams at outside centre with 20 minutes remaining at Eden Park. Former Tigers forward Steve Mafi, meanwhile, lined up in the second row for Tonga.

Alex Cuthbert’s first-half score and a late penalty try helped Wales to their victory, while Sam Davies, on his international debut, kicked 12 points.

Wales complete their tour against Samoa on Friday, June 23.
