Ellis's experience will be key to Saxons - coach

England Saxons will benefit from Harry Ellis's experience in their game against Ireland A, according to the coaching team.

The scrum-half has been named in the Saxons 24-man training squad for Friday’s match at Donnybrook (kick-off 7.30pm) alongside Leicester Tigers teammates Dan Cole and Jordan Crane.

Ellis will form a partnership at half-back with Danny Cipriani, and Saxons assistant coach Paul Hull said: “We're up against a strong Irish side and it's great to have players of the calibre and experience of Danny Cipriani and Harry Ellis, particularly in such key positions.”

Ellis scored two tries on his return from a six-week absence as the Saxons beat Portugal 66-0 last Friday. Forwards Cole and Crane also started the game with Crane grabbing one of the Saxons 10 tries.

England team manager Martin Johnson said: “Harry benefited from playing with them last week and I will be in regular contact with Saxons head coach Stuart Lancaster during the course of the week.”
