Five Tigers in England's Six Nations squad

Five members of the Leicester Tigers senior squad have been included in England's squad ahead of the 2022 Six Nations.

Club captain Ellis Genge and 112-cap scrum-half Ben Youngs are joined in the squad named by head coach Eddie Jones by Tigers colleagues Freddie Steward, Joe Heyes and the uncapped Ollie Chessum.

The squad will come together for the first time in Brighton next Monday (January 24) to begin training ahead of the 2022 tournament before continuing preparations the following week at Pennyhill Park.

England will travel to Edinburgh to take on Scotland (Saturday, February 5) then go to face Italy in Rome on Sunday, February 13 before the home games against Wales in Round 3 on Saturday (February 26) and Ireland in Round 4 (Saturday, March 12) at Twickenham Stadium. England then travel to Paris for their final game against France on Saturday, March 19.

Chessum is among six new faces in the squad, being joined by Orlando Bailey, Alfie Barbeary, Tommy Freeman, Ollie Hassell-Collins and Luke Northmore.

"We’ve got plenty of good young players coming through and some of our more experienced are rediscovering their best form," said Jones.

"We think this 36 for the first training week reflects a good balance of that experience and up-and-coming talent."
