Fantastic experience for Prima Tiger Cup teams

Welford Road hosted the players, coaches and supporters of eight teams from across the region for the Prima Tiger Cup on Saturday afternoon.

Under-10s teams representing Burton, Crusaders, Kesteven, Newark, Old Laurentians, Silhillians, Stamford and Wymondham rugby clubs followed in the footsteps of rugby legends by running out on the Leicester Tigers turf as part of the Prima Tiger Cup.

The teams watched the Leicester Tigers match against Worcester Warriors in the Aviva Premiership, had photos taken on the pitch at half-time in  front of a 21,000-strong crowd and then played in  their own fixtures following the final whistle.

Supported by Prima Solutions of Loughborough, the Prima Tiger Cup is a contact-based fun event open to all clubs at under-10 level with teams in four festivals where Tigers identify clubs who demonstrate the true ethos of the game under our event criteria in keeping with the RFU Age Grade Rules and guidelines.

Scott Veness, a coach at Crusaders, said: “This is the club’s first year involved with the Prima Tiger Cup and our youth development has massively increased.

“We’ve gone from 20 kids to over 200 so it’s fantastic to be able to bring along all out under-10’s group to experience the day.”

Silhillians and Stamford have been invited back to play at the Prima Tiger Cup Celebration Day on the day of a first-team fixture later in the season.

Places in the Prima Tiger Cup are limited, to register your interest or for any further enquiries, please email [email protected] or visit https://www.leicestertigers.com/community/prima-tiger-cup for more details.
