Leicester Tigers are delighted to announce that four members of the first-team squad have agreed new contract terms at the club.

Tigers today confirmed that internationals Michele Rizzo and Mathew Tait, and academy graduates Harry Wells and Harry Thacker have agreed to extend their stays past the 2016/17 season.

All four players contributed to the Anglo-Welsh Cup campaign which culminated in a win in the Final at the Twickenham Stoop earlier this month, the club’s first silverware since 2013.

Thacker, who recently passed 50 first-team appearances, said: “I always wanted to play for my hometown club and I obviously have family ties with the Tigers. It’s great to be able to continue to do that and wear the Tigers shirt.”

Wells, who started all six games in the Anglo-Welsh Cup campaign, added: “I’ve enjoyed it so far this season and I just want to keep developing my game and putting myself forward.”

Tait, who captained Tigers in the Anglo-Welsh Cup Final, said: “Tigers is a massive club and playing in big games is one of the main reasons you want to be here. I’m very glad to be doing that.”

Rizzo, who has returned from injury this season to earn a Six Nations recall with Italy, said: “It is a privilege for me to play for the Leicester Tigers and from the first moment I joined I thought Leicester felt like home.”
