Junior Tigers help design Takeover Day

Two lucky Tigers fans had the chance to come to the club’s Welford Road offices and watch their t-shirt and poster designs become a reality ahead of this year’s Junior Tigers Club Takeover Day.

Supported with club partners The Nottingham Building Society and Next, nine-year-old Teddy Shoosmith and ten-year-old Ethan Ockenden were selected as the winners of our JTC Takeover Day Poster and T-shirt design competition.

The pair joined Leicester Tigers graphic designer Gaz Nash who helped to create their hand-drawn designs ready to be printed ahead of the JTC Takeover Day when Tigers take on Bath Rugby in their final home game of the season on May 18 (4.00pm).

Both lads posed for photos with their winning designs and will be joining the rest of our JTC Takeover Day winners on the pitch at half-time.

Teddy, from Shrewsbury who designed the winning JTC Takeover Poster design, said: “I just started drawing the poster and it just came out of my head - I thought the orange would stand out against the green, white and red.

“Gaz added some extra bits as well as some of the words, but it was really interesting to watch. I’m a big Tigers fans and play rugby for my local club Shrewsbury RFC and am really excited about being out on the pitch.”

Ethan Ockenden, from St Ives was the winner of the JTC Takeover Day T-shirt design, added: “Because of the red, white and green colours, I mixed this with the JTC splats to pull the design together.

“I really enjoy going to the JTC area as you get the chance to meet players, ask questions and have fun.

“I don’t usually enjoy drawing but this was good fun – Jonny May is my favourite player because he’s been scoring lots of tries and I play wing like Jonny too.
