In the first interview after it was confirmed that he would join Leicester Tigers, Kevin Sinfield OBE speaks to LTTV about his decision to join Steve Borthwick's coaching team at the club.

Watch the interview at 6.00pm on Thursday, June 17 below on LTTV.

Sinfield explains what motivated him to make the move cross-codes - from the Rhinos to Tigers - and why the time is right for him to take on the "challenge" of returning to on-field coaching, as well as sharing an insight in to his conversations with Leicester's Head Coach.

The 40-year-old also explains his philosophy of defence and the "calculated risk" from both him and the club on a move from rugby league to rugby union.

Sinfield shares what he knows of Leicester Tigers supporters, matchdays at Mattioli Woods Welford Road and what excites him most about joining the club, while also discussing the impressive "foundations" put in place from outgoing assistant coach Mike Ford.

The incoming Tigers assistant coach also discusses his charity work in support of the MND Association and former team-mate and friend Rob Burrow, plus plenty more...

Sinfield joins Tigers after three years as Director of Rugby at Super League club Leeds Rhinos.

In a trophy-laden professional rugby league career spanning 18 years, Sinfield made more than 500 appearances for Leeds Rhinos and represented England and Great Britain on more than 40 occasions.

A seven-time Super League champion, two-time Challenge Cup and triple World Club Challenge winner, Sinfield finished his rugby league career as the most decorated domestic professional player in English history and the Super League's record appearance holder and points-scorer.

He was awarded an MBE in 2014 for services to rugby league.

In 2015, he joined Yorkshire Carnegie in the RFU Championship for a season before retiring from playing professionally at the conclusion of the campaign.

Sinfield was appointed Rugby Director of the Rugby Football League in 2016 and helped lead England to the 2017 Rugby League World Cup Final before returning to Rhinos as Director of Rugby the following year.
