Harborough events kick off derby week

Leicester Tigers stars visited Market Harborough Rugby Club for a series of events to kick-off derby week.

Telusa Veainu was a guest of BT Sport for the filming of their Rugby Tonight on Tour programme.

Veainu joined former Tigers players and now BT Sport pundits Ben Kay and Austin Healey to preview Saturday’s Aviva Premiership clash with Northampton Saints.

The programme was filmed in the clubhouse in front of a live audience, and Veainu took the opportunity to chat to young fans, pose for photos and sign autographs during breaks in filming. The show will be broadcast on BT Sport on Wednesday evening.

England internationals George Ford, Ellis Genge and Ben Youngs, meanwhile, were also at Harborough to support grass roots rugby.

Hosted by Land Rover, the Official Vehicle Partner of Premiership Rugby, the Tigers players took part in a coaching session with young Harborough players after conducting a series of press interviews to preview the East Midlands derby. They were joined by representatives of Northampton, including England international Teimana Harrison.

Genge and Veainu took to Twitter after the event to thank Harborough for their hospitality.

And Mike Fletcher, the minis and juniors chairman, thanked all involved “for creating a night that lots of our young players & older members will remember for a long time”.
