Match preview: Tigers v Falcons

Leicester Tigers return to Aviva Premiership league duties after their European Cup heroics with a home game against Newcastle Falcons on Saturday (3pm).

With just one defeat in six rounds of Aviva Premiership action so far, Tigers sit third in the league table and are keen to build on the solid platform provided so far.

“We’ve had a tough couple of weeks, but we have some fresh guys that are excited about playing and taking their opportunity,” said Tigers director of rugby Richard Cockerill.

“Newcastle have had some injuries and guys like Alesana Tuilagi and Sinoti Sinoti, who are very dangerous, have been missing so they have probably adjusted their game. They went to Sale and got a good result with a draw and probably should have won that game. They are a dangerous side, we know that.

“It’s a big spell of the season with Newcastle, Saracens, Northampton and then back into Europe. This weekend is really important.”

Tigers have won the last 10 league encounters with the Falcons since a 14-10 defeat at Kingston Park in March 2009.

Kick-off at Welford Road is at 3pm on Saturday and tickets are still available.

There is scheduled live TV coverage of Saturday’s game so the only place to see all of the action is at Welford Road.
