Leicester Tigers Wheelchair Rugby team players Gavin Walker, Jamie Stead, Jack Smith and Nick Cummins have won Gold at the Toyko Paralympics representing Team GB.
The squad beat USA in the final 49-54 in a close encounter at the Yoyogi National Stadium to win a first-ever gold medal after making the finals phase for the first time in the sports history.
Tigers' head coach Darren Matthews and mechanic Jonathan Roach made up head coach Paul Shaw's backroom staff. LTWR chairman Rob Tarr was also a part of the coaching staff, however was unable to travel to Japan due to overcoming Covid-19.
Team GB narrowly kept their lead throughout the match leading at the end of the first quarter 12-15. Half-time saw the scores 24-26 with Team GB only a point to the good at end of third quarter 36-37.
USA beat Great Britain only a few days ago in the Pool B fixture winning 50-48.
