Partners proud of award-winning Junior Tigers Club

Last week saw Leicester Tigers pick up a prestigious award for the great work of its free-to-join Junior Tigers Club for under-16s.

Running activities on matchdays, competitions and mascot opportunities as well as the chance to meet Tigers players, the support of club partners Next and The Nottingham Building Society ensures the Junior Tigers Club can continue to offer more and more for FREE each season.

The Junior Tigers Club first started in 2001 and now has more than 40,000 members signed up who receive exclusive content and opportunities to get involved with Tigers each matchday.

Picking up the best fan experience award at TheStadiumBusiness Awards 2018, judges recognised the Junior Tigers Takeover Day specifically stating “creating an environment to connect and empower youth to participate in sports venue management is very powerful.”

The Junior Tigers Takeover Day gives young fans the chance to go behind-the-scenes at Welford Road and support the running of a matchday. Kids can experience the role of a reporter, kitman, stadium announcer, DJ and much more.

David Marlow, chief executive officer at The Nottingham, said of the award win:

“As a proud sponsor, we are delighted to hear that, in the face of world class competition, Tigers came out on top to win the Best Fan Experience award. “We know how committed the club is to making the day as fun and engaging as possible for its fans and also how much work goes into it so a huge well done to the whole team.”

Youngsters who sign up to the Junior Tigers Club get a welcome goodie bag, access to the VIP area at Welford Road on matchdays and weekly updates from club mascot Welford in the ‘Splat’ newsletter.
