Preview | Tigers looking to continue momentum against Saracens

Leicester Tigers secured their first Premiership Women's Rugby (PWR) victory of the season last week, defeating Sale Sharks at the Salford Community Stadium.

The side's second victory of 24/25, following a PWR Up win at Loughborough Lightning, focus now shifts to triumphing on home soil, where they welcome Saracens.

Speaking ahead of the game, Head Coach Tom Hudson said: "We were delighted to secure our first Premiership win of the season last weekend, every single member of this squad deserved it - their efforts has been exemplary throughout the last several months.

"Above all else, we can't wait to return home and give our all in front of our Tigers supporters."

There's just two changes to the squad that ran out winners in Salford.

Roisin McBrien captains the side, with Katie Childs returning to the squad to partner Evie Wills in the centres.

Amongst the replacements, there's just one change. Amelia Tutt set for her first Premiership appearance of the season, having last featured for the club in the PWR Up series earlier this year. The Welsh international is set for her 10th appearance for the club, should she be used from the bench.

Additional milestones see Eva Donaldson and Tess Feury set to make their 20th appearances for Leicester Tigers.

The visitors this Saturday are Saracens, who come into this match in mixed form. Their last three games have seen two losses and a win, with the defeats coming to the league's leaders, Exeter Chiefs and second place Harlequins, while last weekend saw a bonus point victory at home to Loughborough Lightning.

Canadian 7s star Fancy Bermudez will start her first Saracens match this weekend, having signed for the club over a summer where she helped Canada win Silver in the 2024 Olympic Games.

A key clash comes in the pack, where hooker May Campbell, the league's second top try scorer (7), comes face to face with Tigers and Red Rose front row Amy Cokayne.

"We spoke about managing emotions prior to the Sale game and it's the same this weekend against Saracens, albeit with a different challenge ahead of us" Hudson added.

"We have to keep our approach to every game consistent as we continue to build on the style of rugby we've established. Although we were victorious against Sharks, I don't believe that was close to the best we can play.

"The effort on both sides of the ball, the body language, they are stables of our game and were vital in the win. However, in terms of our structures, our fluidity, I think this group can continue to progress and get better and better."

Leicester Tigers made the most carry metres (642) and second-most metres per carry (3.8) in Round 8, while the six tries they scored was their most in a match this season.

The time it took them to score four tries, a shade over 24 minutes, was the third quickest time for any PWR team to achieve a try bonus point in 2024/25.

The all-North American back three of Tess Feury, Emily Henrich and Claire Gallagher will have to look to the skies this weekend, with the visitors often favouring the boot. Fly half Zoe Harrison made the most kicks (12) in the last round,  with a total of 478 kick metres (1st): Saracens retained the most kicks overall (four).

Leicester will have to be defensively strong also. Saracens had the third-best gainline success rate (55.3%) in Round 8 and averaged the most metres (4.6) and post-contact metres (1.5) per carry.
