The Prima Tiger Cup is back for another season, and players and parents are loving it.
Supported by Prima Solutions of Loughborough, the Prima Tiger Cup is a free-to-enter contact-based fun event open to U10 teams.
The Prima Tiger Cup features four festivals across the Tigers academy region before teams are invited back to play at Welford Road at a big first-team fixture, making it the largest and most prestigious single age-group playing opportunity.
Tigers players such as Sam Harrison, Harry Thacker and Charlie Thacker are among those to have played in the Prima Tiger Cup, and now a new generation are taking part.
This year’s Prima Tiger Cup began last weekend at Diss RFC, and teams representing Crusaders, Diss, Holt, North Walsham, Norwich and Wymondham have been invited to participate in a series of games at Welford Road.
Matt Day, Diss U10s coach, said: “I thought it was a fabulous start to the season and all our guys had a great day. To quote my son Jed, his words were "Dad, I really didn't like today... I loved it!"
Martin Alcock, coach at Crusaders Rugby, said: “It was the first time we have ever entered and we really look forward to taking next year’s U10s already!
“Well organised, fast moving and brilliantly refereed with understanding throughout at a steep stage in the learning curve. The standard and etiquette of play from all sides that I saw was excellent and the whole morning did Leicester Tigers and Norfolk rugby proud.”
Arthur Pattison, U10s lead coach at Wymondham RFC, said: “All my players, parents and coaches all really enjoyed the day, despite the weather.”
The Prima Tiger Cup continues on Sunday at Lutterworth RFC before festivals at Tamworth RFC (October 22) and Mellish RFC (October 29).
