Solomone Kata's dominant display in the midfield saw the Leicester Tigers centre voted Player of the Match in the 42-20 win over Newcastle Falcons at Mattioli Woods Welford Road.
The barnstorming back crossed for a try and ran riot over the Falcons to help secure the 22-point victory and a home play-off against Sale Sharks next weekend.
After the match, Kata said: “It was pretty tough at the start, we made too many errors. But, we managed to get the win and pull away in the second half so we are pretty happy."
"This week, we were focusing on Newcastle like we have to but the main thing was that we focused on ourselves and what were we going to do today, which we got done and got the win."
Looking ahead to the showdown with Sale for a place in the Gallagher Premiership Final, Kata said: “That's for next week, but we know how physical they are and so we prepared for that. We will come here and see what we can do."
Discussing his own performance, he added: “It was alright. There’s one play with Olli Hassell-Collins where I didn’t give it to him, so he’s said something to me about that! “He came around and I said sorry, I’d cost him the top try scorer award!"
“Maybe if I knew he was so close before I’d have given him the ball! But at the end of the day, we got the win so, happy with that."
