Samurai teamwear the fabric for club's foundations

Leicester Tigers and official teamwear partner Samurai Sportswear have enjoyed a successful start to the club’s three-year deal.

Nine months since the partnership was announced back in February 2020, the collaboration has welcomed the club’s biggest-ever opening day pre-orders, exclusive clothing lines and ‘new-look’ designs from the traditional home and change kits.

A family-run clothing design and manufacturer, the companies origins began when, back in 1996, founder Terry Sands created his own kit for his Samurai International Rugby Sevens team at the Amsterdam Sevens.

With the demands of rugby at the centre of their fashion design, the brand has helped to revive and reintroduce quality products from training wear to casual wear for rugby players and supporters alike.

With its own foundations forged from the global interest of Sevens rugby, the collaboration on the 2020/21 Change shirt reflects a truly multi-cultural influence.

This creativity and commitment to reflect the diversity of Leicester firstly, fashioned a striking, bright and bold blue look - taking inspiration from the sporting kits of India’s national teams. Vibrant colours, rainbow socks and the unmistakable Tiger print combined what is great about our community.

Secondly, it unlocked the potential to reimagine clothing lines. Light blue, bright red and multi-coloured striped training wear combined with a retro classics range in the Captains Collection have proved popular with the Tigers fanbase.

With the news that competitive play for rugby clubs (excluding Premiership, Championships and Premier 15s) cannot be played before January 2021, Samurai’s range of custom teamwear can help ensure that clubs are ready and kitted out when the new season returns.

The support of each of the club’s partners throughout the pandemic has been even more vital at a time when matchday and stadium revenues have been halted.

The commitment of partners allows Tigers to resource not only the playing squad but also continue its important role in the community.
