Manu Tuilagi and Billy Twelvetrees will team up again at centre for England Saxons in the clash with Ireland A in Belfast on Friday night (7.30pm kick-off).

The Leicester Tigers centres made their Saxons debuts together against Italy A at Worcester’s Sixways Stadium on Saturday and played a big part in the 45-17 win with Tuilagi among the try-scorers.

Now Tuilagi, 19, and 22-year-old Twelvetrees have been selected to face the Wolfhounds at Ravenhill on Friday.

England Saxons head coach Stuart Lancaster said: "We were pleased with the performance given that we went into the game with only three days’ preparation, but Ireland is a significantly different challenge and there are plenty of areas we need to improve.

"We’re away from home and Ireland will be on the rebound from their defeat against Scotland A as well as looking to avenge their defeat at The Rec against us last year. So it’s about stepping up our intensity and focus this week. We’ll be going into the game with confidence but also very wary and respectful of what Ireland will bring.”

Lancaster has made three changes to his side. Prop Paul Doran-Jones (Gloucester Rugby), scrum-half Joe Simpson (London Wasps) and Nick Abendanon (Bath Rugby) come into the team for Joe Marler (Harlequins), Richard Wigglesworth (Saracens) and Mike Brown (Harlequins) respectively. Alex Corbisiero (London Irish) moves across to loosehead prop.
