Five Leicester Tigers players helped Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby team to a silver placed finish at this year’s European Championships 2022.
Hosted at the Halle Carpentier arena in Paris, Tiger Gavin Walker captained the national size who were beaten by the host nation by just one point in a close 44-43 encounter.
The win marked the French wheelchair rugby team’s first every European Championship, with Denmark taking third spot, followed by Germany, Switzerland and Russia. The Netherlands and Poland competed the final rankings.
Tigers own Kieran Flynn made his international debut in the championship, joining Jamie Stead, Jack Smith and Nick Cummins from the Leicester contingent.
Great Britain made a winning start to the campaign, beating Poland, Germany and the Netherland’s before a showdown with Denmark. GBWR sealed the 55-48 win setting up a final with the hosts.

Attention turns to this year's Premiership fixtures with Tigers currently joint top. Split across five weekends of which each side will attend four, Tigers remaining dates include will be Sunday March 27 (Stoke Mandeville), Saturday April 23 (Stoke Mandeville) and Sunday May 8 (Reading).
