Six Leicester Tigers will represent Great Britain at the 2019 International Wheelchair Rugby Federation European Championships in Vejle, Denmark on August 7-11.

The Team GB squad has been announced with LTWR players Gavin Walker, Jamie Stead and Nick Cummins featuring in the playing squad.

Tigers coaching team Darren Matthews and Rob Tarr will once again support Team GB head coach Paul Shaw with Tigers team mechanic Jonathan Roach also on the backroom staff.

Great Britain are the reigning European Champions beating Sweden 49-41 in the 2017 final in Germany and are favourites to retain the title following their recent 2019 Four Nations Wheelchair Rugby Invitational title win.

Head Coach Paul Shaw is now well advanced in shaping his 10-person squad for the 2020 Paralympic Games and this tournament represents a further opportunity for athletes to stake their claim for a Tokyo place.

He adds: "This tournament has an added significance because the winners and runners up qualify for the 2020 Paralympic Games and we want to nail our place at the first opportunity. We have selected a squad to do that but we need to be clinical in our performances - the likes of France, Sweden and Denmark are more than capable of beating us and we need to maintain our discipline and focus.’

Team GB are currently ranked fourth in the world rankings and will face 15th placed Switzerland in their opening game in Denmark on Wednesday, August 7.
