Leicester Tigers have signed loosehead prop Dan Richardson.

The front-rower joins Tigers ahead of the 2021/22 season from Championship side, Jersey Reds.

“Dan is determined to continue to improve and hungry to learn, as well as contribute to what we are building at Leicester Tigers"

Richardson played junior rugby with his home-town club at Penrith in Cumbria before representing Leeds Beckett University, where he studied Sports and Exercise Science.

Ahead of the 2017/18 season, he joined National One side Fylde and then spent a season with Rotherham before joining Jersey in 2019.

Speaking about the addition of Richardson to his squad, Leicester Tigers head coach Steve Borthwick said: “Dan is a young player who has done very well and worked his way up, following an unconventional route, to being one of the stand-out props in the Championship."

“He’s a tough Cumbrian lad and will be a good addition to our forward pack.

“Dan is determined to continue to improve and hungry to learn, as well as contribute to what we are building at Leicester Tigers."

Discussing his move to Tigers, Richardson said: "To be a part of a huge club, with so much history, is really exciting."

"Coming in to the Premiership is something I have always wanted to do since I was a young kid and now I have got that opportunity, it's exciting."

Richardson is Borthwick’s 11th addition ahead of the 2021/22 campaign alongside the already-announced Freddie Burns, Bryce Hegarty, Juan-Pablo Socino, Eli Snyman, Marco Van Staden and Francois Van Wyk, as well as four graduates from the Leicester Tigers Academy.
