Success down to squad effort says Law

Academy scrum-half Jonny Law says Tigers’ successful league season was built on a whole squad effort.

Tigers beat Gloucester 43-21 to be crowned Premiership Rugby’s Under-18s Academy Finals Day champions for the first time.

Freddie Steward (2), Cameron Jordan, Andre Dunn, Henri Lavin and George Martin scored the tries as Tigers maintained their unbeaten run through the season to lift the silverware.

Law said: “We’re really chuffed with the win. Competition for places is a strong motivation. Week in, week out we continue to push one another. That competition has got us to where we are.

“Everybody is playing for one another. We’re all playing within a system and trust one another."

“Everything we do in both attack and defence we do in trusting one another, which has shown on the pitch today."

Still at U17 level, Law will return to the Academy squad next season alongside a handful of the grand final winning squad, and the scrum-half will do well to top what he admits is "at the top" of the list in his short rugby career so far.

"It's the biggest game I've had in my career so far, playing at Allianz Park for the Leicester Tigers and winning a Grand Final. It's definitely at the top."
