Super Series weekend for Tigers Wheelchair Rugby

The first Super Series weekend of the BT GBWR (Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby) Division 1 takes place this weekend at Leicester Arena and includes the Leicester Tigers team known as the Marauders.

As part of the Leicester Tigers Foundation and teaming up with the Matt Hampson Foundation, the Tigers Wheelchair Rugby Club plays in the UK league and joins forces with the existing Marauders club to play as Leicester Tigers in European competition.

After training over the summer and watching team-mates compete at the Rio Paralympics, teams including Warriors, Crusaders, Storm and the Tigers team are ready for the season to begin with an exciting weekend of rugby.

Marauders are looking to improve on last year’s mid-table finish and have selected a younger squad than in previous seasons with one of Team GB’s stars from Rio, Jamie Stead, looking to add to his elite competitive experience.

The Leicester Arena, home of the Leicester Riders basketball team, is a new three-court arena and will host this weekend’s Super Series event.

The Tigers Wheelchair Rugby team’s games are at 10.45am, 2.15pm and 5.45pm on Saturday ( December 3) with more games played on Sunday.
