The Swifts and how YOU can help

Leicester Tigers are reaching out to the business community to help support the Swifts programme which creates opportunities for under-represented youngsters in Leicester and Leicestershire to take part in rugby.

Over the years, the Leicester Tigers community team have launched and delivered a variety of programmes encouraging youngsters to take up rugby.

One of the club’s most recent successes has been The Swifts, which began back in 2018 with the aim of driving the participation of black, asian, minority ethnic (BAME) groups in rugby.

In partnership with Premiership Rugby’s Project Rugby initiative, the first Swifts match saw a team consisting of Year 4 pupils play at half-time during a Leicester Tigers home game on the first-team pitch in front of a big crowd.

This has now grown into a free programme for boys and girls in Years 5 to 8 across primary and secondary education.

Please note timings and location has been postponed during lockdown.

The Covid-19 pandemic has understandably halted progress since the start of 2020, which is why the club has taken the opportunity to find programme partners to support the growth of rugby across the city.

Whether you’re a small or big business, a community player or you simply love rugby, we want you to get in touch to talk about how you could support the sponsorship.

This could be volunteering your time, expertise or facilities as well as covering the costs of coaching, venues, insurance and equipment. As a main sponsor, you would also benefit from publicity across Leicester Tigers channels as well as promotional access.

From fundraising and donations to giving up your time, email Leicester Tigers’ head of community Scott Clarke at [email protected] for an initial conversation.
