Tigers Academy win five on the bounce

Leicester Tigers Academy recorded their fifth successive victory when they beat Midlands rivals Moseley 34-5 at Oval Park on Saturday.

The fixture, which was the first academy match of the year, followed wins over Cornish Pirates, Nottingham and Bedford, as well as the reverse encounter against Moseley back in October.

Tigers opened up a 29-5 half-time advantage but were only able to add a single score in the second period as they begun a busy few weeks of fixtures. Home games against Naas and Glasgow Hawks follow before the end of the month, as does an U-16 fixture against Cardiff Blues.

Rob Bell, who has been named on the bench for tonight’s Guinness A League match at Newcastle, scored twice for the academy, with Tom Armes, Gareth Clarke and Connor Smith grabbing a try a-piece. Rickie Aley added three conversions and a penalty to ensure Tigers ran out comfortable winners.

Tigers Academy: Gareth Clarke, Karl Pallas, Connor Smith, Andy Gates, Sam Williamson, Rickie Aley, Finlay Barnham; Andy Brown, Jack Owens, Adam Parkins, Calum Green, Dan Hurst, Tom Armes, Rob Bell, Josh Goldspink

Replacements: Marcus Badham, Tom Jones, Paddy Gras-Grote, Matt Everard, Luke Beales, Sam Harrison
