Tigers help Team GB to opening Paralympic win

Four members of the Leicester Tigers Wheelchair were in opening day action as Team GB claimed a first win at the Toyko Paralympics.
 
Captain Gavin Walker led the team to a 50-47 win over Canada with Jamie Stead, Jack Smith and Nicholas Cummins playing their part in their Pool B victory.
 
Team GB had a narrow lead at the end of the second quarter 25-22 with the close- encounter going right until the final buzzer.
 
Jamie Stead found himself of the scoresheet chipping in three tries at the Yoyogi National Stadium.
 
The National side are next in action on Thursday, August 26 playing New Zealand before a final pool game against the USA on Friday, August 27. Both fixtures will take place between 9.30am-1.45pm (UK time).
 
The weekend will see the semi-final and final classifications before the medal matches on Sunday, August 29. Fixtures will take place between 10.00am and 12.15pm (UK time).
