Former England forward Louis Deacon helped to kick off the new Leicester Tigers tag rugby programme in partnership with The Nottingham Building Society this week.Deacon, who has made 274 first-team appearances for Tigers and earned 29 England caps, attended a launch event at The Nottingham’s branch in High Street, Market Harborough before young players got a taste of tag rugby at a local school.
The new programme aims to deliver five weeks of tag rugby for Key Stage 2 pupils and will visit primary schools around The Nottingham Building Society branches including Leicester city centre, Market Harborough, Groby, Melton Mowbray and the new Wigston branch which opens at the end of the year.
Tigers mascot Welford and The Nottingham mascots joined the free tag rugby session at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School joined activities run by the Tigers roadshow vehicle known as The Maul on launch day.
