Staff at Leicestershire County Council got their hands on some major silverware on Wednesday - and tickets for Leicester Tigers' opening home match of the season.

Tigers took the Guinness Premiership honours after Twickenham victory over London Irish in May and the trophy made the trip to County Hall at Glenfield where staff took the opportunity to pose for pictures alongside the impressive silverware while also snapping up seats for the defence of the title when Tigers face Newcastle Falcons at Welford Road on Saturday, September 19.

A Tigers spokesman said: “A lot of hard work from all of the coaching and playing staff went into winning the league last season and it was great to see that hard work rewarded with victory in the final and a big day out for the supporters at Twickenham.

"Now we are very pleased that we can take the Guinness Premiership trophy out to our supporters.

“The supporters at County Hall certainly seemed to appreciate the opportunity to lift the trophy and collect some photos.”

Tickets for the opening home game - and the first to be played in ffront of the new 10,000-seat Caterpillar Stand - and to celebrate Tigers have introduced a number of ticket initiatives for the occasion.

Try one of these ticket initiatives:

• Free entry for under-10s when accompanied by a paying adult.
• Try Before You Buy means you can take advantage of special prices AND then redeem the ticket value against a season ticket or entry to any other Welford Road match before Christmas.
• Pick ‘n’ Mix allows you to attend three games and gain free entry to a fourth game of your choice.

Tickets for the Newcastle Falcons game on September 19 are priced £15 adults, £10 young adults and full-time students, and £5 juniors.

Try Before You Buy is available only until 4pm on Sunday, September 13.

Promotions are subject to availability and are not in conjunction with any other offer.
