Tigers on Tour | Mixed results for Leicester internationals

Leicester Tigers international trio Julián Montoya, Matías Moroni and Jasper Wiese recorded mixed results in the final round of the 2021 Rugby Championship in Australia.

In the first of the final double-headers, Argentina went down fighting to Australia 17-32 on the Gold Coast to see the Los Pumas unable to record a victory in this year's tournament.

Captain Montoya was at his barnstorming best in attack and defence up front for Argentina, while Moroni showed his attacking qualities out wide as an ever-present threat to the Wallabies defence.

Australia, who finished the campaign second on the ladder, made it four successive Test victories in the tournament for the first time since the addition of Argentina to what was once the Tri-Nations.

In the competition's final fixture, South Africa recorded a famous, last-gasp 31-29 victory against New Zealand.

With the bulk of possession and territory, the Springboks still trailed the All Blacks before the boot of Elton Jantjies snatched victory for the South African side and saw them return to top spot on the World Rugby Men's Rankings.

However, the result meant little for the already-decided Rugby Championship table which was decided in the penultimate round with the New Zealand victory over the 'Boks.

All four southern hemisphere nations will now begin preparations for the upcoming Autumn internationals in Europe.
