Update for Leicester Tigers supporters

Leicester Tigers are able to provide the following update for the #TigersFamily on club operations during the Coronavirus pandemic:

The RFU has suspended all rugby activity in England, at both professional and community level, including training, playing and rugby education courses until April 14. This is subject to continued review and based on government advice in the interests of players, coaches, referees, volunteers, supporters and the wider community.

Premiership Rugby fixtures are postponed for five weeks (up to the week beginning April 20) and the European Challenge Cup quarter-finals suspended until further notice.

In line with expert medical advice, Leicester Tigers head coach Geordan Murphy has suspended squad sessions for the foreseeable future. Support staff have also been instructed to work away from the Oval Park training ground.

Speaking about the measures put in place, Murphy admitted the decision was an easy one to make.

“The health and wellbeing of everyone at the club and the general public is our only priority during this period,” said Murphy.

“It wasn’t a tough decision to make, not at all. With the advice of our own medical staff and government and health organisations’ information, we have opted to suspend squad training.

“Players have all been issued with programmes from our Strength and Conditioning department, to maintain their fitness levels, and remain in constant contact with our Medical department.

“There are things bigger than rugby in life and this situation is one of those. At Leicester Tigers, and across the game, nobody is taking any of this COVID-19 pandemic lightly and we would encourage our supporters and the whole country to do the same.”

The Oval Park training ground is closed to the public to prevent any potential spreading of COVID-19 from visitors, and all player appearances have been postponed.

Throughout the postponement period, supporters will still hear from members of the playing squad and coaching team, as well as from senior staff at the club, across social media and the club’s website and mobile app.

The Tigers ticket office and club shop will be closed to visitors from close of play the evening of Monday, March 23.

Ticket office phone lines will remain open and online services available.

Please note the ticket office will not be open on Saturdays.

The online store and customer service phonelines at Fanatics remain in operation.

The club remains open for business and supporters can speak to Welford Road staff during normal business hours. Phone 0116 319 8888 (option 2) or email [email protected]. For more information visit: LeicesterTigers.com/contact
