This week’s Varsity match between DeMonfort University and the University of Leicester has been postponed due to the recent adverse weather conditions.
The call was made by the Leicester Tigers groundstaff who have been unable to treat and prepare the pitch due to the unpredictable weather of recent weeks alongside the importance of upcoming Aviva Premiership fixtures.
The fixture was due to be played on Thursday evening this week and the club has already agreed a new date of Monday April 30 2018.
Scott Clarke, head of community & global partnerships at Leicester Tigers, said: “We are delighted to be able to overcome the “Beast from the East” and find a way to continue this traditional Varsity celebration event involving both universities men's and women's rugby teams as well as Leicester’s student population.”
Those who have already purchased tickets are urged to hold onto their tickets which will be valid for the rescheduled fixtures. Tickets remain on sale at both university campus’s and through the Tigers ticket office.
Prices are £5 when bought in advance or £7.50 on the night. The women’s game will kick off at 6.15pm with the Men scheduled to kick off just after 8.00pm
