Watch: Global Payments Healthy School champions

At Tigers’ last home outing against Rugby Calvisano in the European Challenge Cup, pupils from 15 primary schools were invited to take part in a special presentation and photo as part of the club’s Global Payments Healthy Schools programme.

The free programme, which sees the club’s health education officer Ashleigh Theobald takeover over primary schools sessions for a week to talk about being healthy, continues to grow reaching more pupils than ever before.

Launched back in February 2018 in partnership with club partner Global Payments, Ash selects two pupils from each schools she visits who have stood out as ‘Healthy School Champions’ for their school.

They are then rewarded with a free ticket to a Tigers match, and then have the chance to walk out onto the pitch.

Pete Bettles, COO at Global Payments, joined Ash as well as Tigers hooker Tatafu Polota-Nau for the group photo.

LTTV caught up with the group just before they were about to walk out onto the pitch to find out how they were feeling and what they have been up to.

Watch the moment they walk out at Welford Road below.
