Watch | Kids give tag rugby a try with The Nottingham

Seven Leicestershire primary schools took part in the latest Nottingham Building Society Tag festival at Birstall RFC.

140 Year 3 and 4 pupils from Kirby Muxloe, Glenfield, Thornton, Elizabeth Woodville, Martinshaw and Stanton-under-Barton primary schools celebrated five weeks of PE lessons led by Tigers rugby development officer Pete Talbot.

Each year, the programme reaches thousands of youngsters introducing them to tag rugby with the chance to play in their first ever competitive festival at a local rugby club.

The days 'Magic Moment' prize was was presented to Amy Lomax, from Martinshaw school showing off some of the skills she’d learnt from the sessions having her hands up ready to receive a pass and running with the ball in two hands before scoring a try.

Diane Parry Headteacher at Stanton-under-Barton primary school, said: “The children really enjoyed the sessions in school and the festival. There was excellent progression in skills and confidence. A fantastic festival, very well organised and the children loved seeing Welford and their NBS T-shirts”
