Leicester Tigers mascot Welford has spent the last two weeks on the road meeting Tigers Family members across the region. From a starting position at Leicester railway station, Welford ended the tour at a special Rugby World Cup-themed event at Sparkenhoe Primary School in Leicester on Friday.
Other stops included Kibworth Primary School, De Montfort University sport fair and Foxton Locks, where he bumped into Tigers favourite Marcos Ayerza who was taking a short break from his World Cup campaign with Argentina.
Welford also joined the Tigers’ new tag rugby programme supported by The Nottingham Building Society with a session at Market Harborough CofE Primary School, and visited Leicester city centre, Coalville town centre, Spire Hospital Leicester and Loughborough University, taking some great giveaways for supporters too.
As well as all of that, the club mascot has been busy at Welford Road, meeting young supporters in the Junior Tigers Club area of Final Whistle at home fixtures, including Saturday’s finale to the Kings of the North tournament against Sale Sharks, and sharing the excitement at the Tigers World Cup Fanzone at the stadium around matches played in the city.
Look out for Welford at the next home game, against Harlequins in the Aviva Premiership on Sunday, October 25. Tickets are available now.
