Well-Being | New FitFans sessions and ideas

Figure image

If you’ve been in lockdown for a while, you might be starting to exhaust what exercise you can do at home, or looking at new creative ways to do something different. And that is where FitFans can help!

FitFans is a Tigers initiative designed to get supporters of all ages active, organised in 10-week blocks and available online wherever you are.

Over the next 10 weeks, publishing on the Tigers website every Tuesday morning, we will be looking to inspire you with different options for you to complete and/or create your own sessions.

So take a look and join us! You can follow the programme on your own or with a training partner. You can even form a ‘virtual’ group online using Zoom or similar, as the Tigers community team have done with students at Brooksby Melton College.

If you missed the first 10-week FitFans block which came to a conclusion with a reflective session last week, don’t worry because all of the sessions are still available. Click here for all of the links.

So here we go on a fresh start:

Week 1 – Heads & Tails

For today’s session you will need:

  • A coin (or selection of)
  • An upper body exercise (Heads)
  • A lower body exercise (Tails)

Optional:

  • A friend or training partner (subject to abiding by government guidelines on social distancing and household “bubbles”).

Creating the session:

There are a number of ways you can complete this session with the core rules of:

  • Flip your coin
  • Heads – complete your chosen Upper Body Exercise
  • Tails – complete your Chosen Lower Body Exercise

So here are some ideas of how you can create and complete a Heads & Tails session:

Option 1: Coin = Reps

If you have a training partner – or if you are keeping up to date with FitFans using a Zoom or virtual group – why not try this?

FitFans Tails

Call “Heads” or “Tails”

Lose = complete the number of reps for that exercise in accordance with the coin’s worth in pennies.

For example, flip a 10p coin, call Heads, lands on Tails, complete 10 reps of squats.

If you are training on your own, simply complete whatever the coin lands on.

You can continue for a certain time limit or number of goes.

Option 2:  Higher value Coins = Number of Sets

  • Pick a coin to these values at random from a hat OR
  • Training partner hides 2 coins in their hand – you pick Left or Right

Coin picked = Number of Sets to complete

Coins that = Number of Reps

Of course, you can decide how to split your coins in high/low value. And if you are not up to facing 50 or 100 repetitions right now, remove the 50p and £1 coins!

Flip whichever coin you want to determine exercise. You can have different exercises associated with each coin or the same for all coins.
