The latest Ultimate Big Boot challenge saw two teams from Dinas Powys RFC go head to head at half-time during Tigers 30-20 European Challenge Cup win over Cardiff Blues.
Based in South Wales, the group had followed their professional counterparts to Welford Road to support their club, as well as test their catching skills in the club’s half-time entertainment.
With a cash prize of £100 up for grabs, the club split into two teams with the first group making three catches from a possible ten. The second group to take the field managed five catches to equal the best score of the season so far alongside Newark RFC.
Sam Edwards, 14 Welsh group, “We haven’t done anything like it before, but we gave it a good go. The other team managed to catch a few more than us. But it was great fun to be out there in front of so many fans.
“The ball comes down at a much quicker speed than I anticipated but I managed to hold onto to one of our catches. We’ve come a long way to watch the game today, but well done to the other team.”
Sponsored by De Montfort University, the Ultimate Big Boot is available for group bookings and all competitors receive a Big Boot T-shirt as a souvenir. All participants must be aged 14 or over.
