What is it like to be a Tigers mascot?

"Every young fan dreams of leading out their team in front of their fans."

We’re kicking off a new feature series called ‘Tiger Up’ exploring everything that goes on at Welford Road on matchdays.

We’re taking an in-depth look at what the club has to offer for supporters from access to players, to fan experiences, to great food and drink.

Come March, Welford Road will become the battleground for the club’s fiercest clashes against local rivals Wasps (March 2) and Northampton Saints (March 22).

In the countdown over the next two months, we’ll go behind the scenes more to showcase just why Welford Road has been the club rugby's greatest stadium for more than 125 years.

In the first instalment, we are shining a light on club mascots and Junior Tigers Club members who make Welford Road a special place to be.

Some of you may have seen the recent news about the cost of being a mascot for professional football clubs. Well, it's completely FREE to be a Leicester Tigers mascot and the only way to be in with a chance is by joining the FREE award-winning Junior Tigers Club (available for up to 16 years old)

Open two hours before kick-off at every Tigers home game, there’s activities, face painting, video games, table tennis, colouring…and the chance to ask Tigers players a question in the JTC VIP Area. The two players then draw names out of a hat to see who will be leading out the teams!

Supported by club partners The Nottingham Building Society and Next, we'll also draw our Tiger Cubs for our younger members who are able to walk out on the famous pitch before kick-off and score a try!

Take a look for yourself.

Junior Tigers Club members will also receive the weekly SPLAT newsletter from club mascot Welford as well as the chance to take part in the annual Junior Tigers Club Takeover Day, where we give young fans the chance to takeover Welford Road in different job roles.

Don’t forget, it’s now easier than ever to get in touch with Tigers via the official Leicester Tigers twitter. Simply tweet us and we’ll point you in the right direction. You may even feature in our next Tiger Up!

Match tickets are available for Tigers next upcoming home games against Ulster (Saturday, January 19, 3.15pm) as well as Wasps and Northampton Saints. Contact the ticket office on 0116 319 8888 (option 2) or click the link below.
