Team GB begin their Wheelchair Rugby campaign at the Paralympics on Wednesday next week (August 25) with the opening fixtures in the pool stages.

Canada represent the first opponents for a GB team which includes four players from the Leicester Tigers Wheelchair Rugby Team which is supported by club partners Häfele.

Gavin Walker, Nick Cummins, Jamie Stead and Jack Smith are all named in the squad, with more members of the Tigers club involved in GB’s support team.

Team GB, who are the reigning European champions, will also face New Zealand next Thursday and then 2016 Paralympic silver medallists USA a day later in the pool before the knockout fixtures begin at the Yoyogi National Stadium. The gold medal final is scheduled for Sunday morning UK time.

World champions Japan and the 2012/2016 Paralympic champions Australia are the favourites in the other side of the draw.
