Worth urges Tigers to back up home form

Cutting out ‘simple mistakes’ will be crucial if Leicester Tigers are to beat Saracens this weekend, according to outside back George Worth.

Geordan Murphy’s men travel to Allianz Park in Round 13 of the Gallagher Premiership this Saturday, March 7 (1.00pm) having enjoyed an upturn in form in recent weeks.

But Worth insisted the side must back up last weekend’s home win over Worcester Warriors with a strong display away to the reigning champions.

“We’ve gone well at home – that’s something good to hold on to – but you can’t be good one week and not so good the next,” he said.

“Backing up the win at the weekend is vitally important to us.”

Doing that will be easier said than done. While Saracens sit at the foot of the Premiership table through two well-publicised points deductions, they have picked up eight wins from 12 matches so far this season.

“Sarries know exactly how they’re going to play, and [every week, their] opposition know exactly how they’re going to play,” Worth continued.

“They’re so good at what they do that, as proven in recent years, it’s hard to beat them.

“You’ve got to be very good at the stuff that doesn’t require any talent – getting up off the floor, getting the scraps on the floor – because they live off mistakes.

“They really thrive off any mistakes. If you can minimise that, don’t give them that energy, then you’re well in the game before you’ve even fired any of your shots.”
