Youngs prepares with England

Tom Youngs has been retained in the England squad preparing for Sunday's RBS 6 Nations match against Wales at Twickenham.

The Leicester Tigers hooker, who has 15 caps, joined up with the England squad after playing in Tigers’ win over Newcastle last weekend and is among the 23-man group which will return to Pennyhill Park this evening to prepare for Sunday’s match.

Tigers colleague Manu Tuilagi, who made just his second appearance of the season in the win over Newcastle Falcons at Kingston Park, will continue to train with the matchday squad, while Ben Youngs and Ed Slater have been released.

England head coach Stuart Lancaster said: “The performance against Ireland has given us a lot of confidence going into this game against a high quality Welsh team and we feel it’s right to give the bulk of that 23 another opportunity.

“There is a lot of competition for places and to have Marland Yarde and Manu Tuilagi back training with us this week has been great. With Leicester and Wasps not involved in the LV= Cup semi-finals this weekend we are able to keep Matt Mullan to provide cover in the front row and also to give Manu more time to get up to speed with the team."

Lancaster announces his England line-up on Friday.
