Leicester Tigers have been saddened to learn of the death of former player and club president Harry Sibson, aged 91.

Born in Leicester and a well-known stone mason in the city, Harry made 183 appearances for the club as a flanker between 1947 and 1953.

He also played for Leicestershire and was a reserve for an England trial in 1950 as well as representing Leicestershire and the East Midlands against South Africa in 1951.

Harry also served as team secretary and was appointed club president in 1981-83.

Leicester Tigers chairman Peter Tom CBE said: “On behalf of the club, I would like to pass on condolences to all of Harry’s family. I remember his days as team secretary in my playing career and then as president. He was a loyal servant of the club and it is thanks to people like Harry that we are where we are today.”
